City of Lights (Great Conjunction 2020)

This scene covers the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that took place in december 2020. Unable to get to a good location due to travel restrictions, I decided to recreate that location (for the most part) and display the astronomical event in it.

Having an entry-level telescope, I dusted it off and took this picture on december 20.

I also took pictures from november 4 to december 20 (when the weather allowed) and put them together to show the change in position of Saturn relative to Jupiter.

The next Great Conjunction will happen in 2040. On november 3, Jupiter and Saturn will share the space with a very close conjunction of Mercury and a thin crescent Moon. I'll make sure to travel to a nice location to photograph it, for real this time.
